What is ‘The Release Line’?
The Release Line is a dedicated hotline releasing Ruels track, The Weight’ created for Lifelines 60th birthday, and to raise awareness for World Suicide Prevention Day. The track will be exclusively available to listen via the new Lifeline Release Line on 1300 004 002. To show their support and help raise $1 million for Lifeline Australia, Aussies can dial this number. The more the song is heard, the more that Aussies in crisis are heard, with the proceeds from each call supporting both voice and digital services to meet increasing demand.

What does Lifeline hope to raise with this initiative?
We are hoping to raise $1 million for Lifeline Australia to continue to provide essential phone and digital crisis support services.
Lifeline has answered over 23 million calls since opening the phone line in March 1963 and thanks to the tireless work of generous volunteers.
The crucial services of Lifeline are needed now, more than ever.
Lifeline has experienced its 3 busiest days outside of the pandemic in the last 3 months. The sort of demand we are currently seeing we usually experience at Christmas or after a disaster. This demand for Lifeline is becoming the norm.
On the basis of $1,000,000 funds raised.- we hope to impact the following:
- Enabled help seeker conversations: 31,000
- Crisis support shifts: 146
- In shift supervisors: 13.27 FTE
How long will The Release Line be active for?
The Release Line with Ruel wraps up on 4 November 2023. That said, stay tuned to communications from Lifeline Australia as there will be other artists coming soon!

What is included in the 63c surcharge?
Many people generously donated time to help bring this campaign to life and ensure we could raise money to help Lifeline Australia do the amazing job of helping people in crisis be heard. Unfortunately, some costs are unavoidable.
The Surcharges include:
- Call Cost 13000 Number = 16c
- Call Cost IVR = 15c
- Credit Card Transaction Fee = 12c (Reduced Charity Rate)
- Merchant Bank Fee = 20c

How is my donation used?
Lifeline has never been needed more. Funds raised will ensure Lifeline Australia can continue to meet the growing demand for crisis support.
